Skinny

Skinny has always been a big hearted kitty. When we first encountered him (as an outdoor feral), he was so thin, so his name became Skinny. We fed him for years and he ended up on our side of town, miles away from where we fed him, so we continued feeding him where we were. He disappeared for months at a time, knowing what he was doing, we weren't too concerned, he was being a "daddy", he was a great daddy. However, he came back this last time and his hip was out of joint. We didn't have the money, but we overdrafted for a nearly $1,000 surgery. Always worth it to save their lives. Well, unbeknownst to us, the vet told us he needs to be strictly indoors because he would be too vulnerable and likely get hurt worse. So we tried homing him to several shelters and sanctuaries, in which everyone told us they needed to bring him back because he wasn't functioning. We took videos when he came back, purring and happy. They all said the same, "he's HOME."
