Meet Rex.
Rex was a lonely, isolated and sad street dog.
Rex begged and fought for scraps in downtown Istanbul
Rex did not choose to be a homeless street dog.
Rex survived the devastating Earthquake in Turkey a few years ago.
Rex has PTSD.
It is common that Rex howls in his sleeps around 2 a.m. and starts shaking and whimpering.
Humans call it "Night Terrors."
Those nights I will wake Rex up and just hold him.
His big brown eyes quietly close when held and loved
One can only imagine the horrors Rex saw while he was a street dog in Istanbul, Turkey after the Earthquake. Memories of his world collapsing all around him.
Rex today is not the same Rex that we adopted
Rex used to snarl, growl, show his teeth, withdrawn with little emotion. And he was scared.
Today, Rex is twice the size from when he arrived a skinny, scared, street dog from Turkey
He put on some pounds but has a strict healthy diet
But, his diet does allow for potato chips!
