On Mother’s Day 2019, a mother and daughter named Bella and Mina flew 14 hours from South Korea into our arms. They were broken, severely abused, and utterly terrified of the world. But as a fellow survivor of abuse, I knew exactly how to speak to their silence. Together with my two sons, we spent seven beautiful years rebuilding a shattered world, watching a terrified soul slowly remember how to live, breathe, and trust again. We said a heartbreaking goodbye to Bella this August, but her spirit remains beautifully woven into our lives. Both of these precious souls completely transformed our family—Bella especially changed our lives forever—and they didn't just become our first rescues; they became our healers. Today, Mina carries that legacy forward with us, living proof that love can always conquer fear.
